I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was three years old, but my call to special education came while I was a student-teacher at Holy Family in 2005. A student in the sixth grade class lamented that his younger brother would likely miss out on a Catholic education because so few Catholic schools provided resources for students with special needs. Five years later, I returned to Holy Family as the learning specialist and had the privilege of teaching that same student’s younger brother. I am energized by advocating for students and their families. I truly believe in teaching the whole student and enjoy celebrating a student’s physical, academic, and spiritual growth. I feel blessed to be able to live out my vocation while helping to provide a faith-based education to students at Holy Family where the dignity of all students is both acknowledged and celebrated.
