School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council provides policy direction for program needs of the school, especially in Planning, Finances, and Development; to promote the implementation of said policies; and to ensure that all local policies are in accord with the intent and spirit of the policies established for the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Portland. Administrative decisions are the responsibility of the principal, who seeks to conduct the educational program according to established policy.
Members of the Holy Family Parish and parents/guardians of students attending Holy Family Catholic School are eligible to serve on the School Advisory Council, pending the approval of the pastor. Advisory Council consists of nine members in addition to the principal and pastor. Five members elected from the parish and school families; two members appointed by the pastor; one member appointed by the principal, and one member represents the Parent Teacher Organization. Normally members are elected or appointed for a three-year term. Terms of office are staggered so that each year several terms of office expire.
The School Advisory Council normally meets on the third Thursday of each month September through June.
