School Advisory Council Description: The School Advisory Council provides policy direction for program needs of the school, especially in Planning, Finances, and Development; to promote the implementation of said policies; and to ensure that all local policies are in accord with the intent and spirit of the policies established for the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Portland. Administrative decisions are the responsibility of the principal, who seeks to conduct the educational program according to established policy. The SAC is comprised of between 10 to 15 appointed members plus the Pastor and Principal as ex officio members. Each member is asked to serving three-year term, which are staggered so that each year several terms of office expire.
School Advisory Council Eligibility Requirements: • twenty-one years of age or older • genuine interest in Catholic school education • ability to work effectively with others
• willingness to maintain high levels of integrity and confidentiality • willingness to support archdiocesan/parish/school philosophy and mission • be a credible witness of the Catholic faith to the school and beyond
• supporting member of the parish and/or parent of current or past student and/or alumni EXCEPTIONS WHO ARE INELIGIBLE: • employee of the parish or school
• immediate relative of a full-time employee of the parish or school
