Homework Assignment Books
The fourth graders have received homework assignment books, which they will keep in their binders. At the end of each day, the class will take approximately ten minutes to write down assignments and important deadlines. Assignments and deadlines are recorded on the homework board in the classroom, which mirrors the page in the assignment book. Your child will be taught how to use their book to help manage assignments and time spent on them.
When the students are done filling out their books, they are to ask another student to check and initial their book. This child checks to make sure your child has recorded all of the important information.
After your child completes his/her homework each evening, please initial his/her assignment book for the appropriate day. I will check student assignment books randomly. If initials are present, your child will receive Monopoly money for their team.
Homework is to be a positive experience. It is independent practice on skills taught that day/week to help assess your child’s academic needs. It is also a tool to help teach your child lifelong skills in responsibility, organization, and accountability. Let’s work together on making homework time at home a positive, quality-filled time. Homework is a great assessment tool that informs my instructional decisions.
