Holy Family Catholic School opened its doors to 27 students on September 8, 1948 with educators from the Sisters of Holy Child Jesus. While the year began in the front room of the rectory, in December of the same year, the new school building was dedicated and blessed by Father Michael Fleming. By 1951, the school expanded to include all eight grades and celebrated its first graduating class. By 1964, enrollment increased to 364 students and the current gym was built. Shortly thereafter, the Holy Child Sisters planned to relinquish the school, but with the help of Sister Esther Basatasch and several school parents, HFCS was kept open. In 1976, the Holy Name Sisters joined the school and continued to operate it for many years. Sister Sally Brown, SNJM, began her tenure as principal in 1979, and would be the last Holy Names nun to work at the school. The school underwent a significant renovation when the current church building was erected in 2000, resulting in the addition of a library, science labs, a learning support center and art and music rooms in the basement of the building. The 2024 Capital Campaign has provided a new HVAC system and plans are being made for an elevator. For over 75 years, Holy Family Catholic School has evolved and grown as needed because of the vibrant community of devoted parishioners, staff, students and parents.
