Dress Code

The goal of the dress code is to have a common standard for attire that will limit distractions from the educational process, be workable and affordable for parents, and be easily implemented at school. “Uniform” implies children will be dressed alike.  The Uniform Policy of Holy Family Catholic School is designed to develop school identity and pride, create unity among our students, and to maintain a non-competitive dress environment.  Parents are expected to maintain the integrity of the Uniform Policy by ensuring that their child is dressed accordingly.
 
Land’s End and Dennis Uniforms are the source for uniform pants, shorts, skorts, skirts, jumpers, sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece vests and jackets.  White uniform shirts may be purchased from suppliers other than Land’s End/Dennis Uniforms as long as they fit the description of Land’s End/Dennis Uniforms clothing. Please utilize the uniform exchange located by the library. These items are available to you at no cost.  The Holy Family Catholic School logo is required on all uniform sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece vests and jackets.
 
General Requirements
K through 8 ^th grade students must be in uniform all days except on specified Free Dress days.  Preschool students may follow the dress guidelines for Free Dress days, or they may wear the uniform for Grades K through 5.
 
Dress Code
In general, students are to be neat, clean and modest.  Clothing should fit properly and allow ease of movement for participation in outdoor activities, but not be oversized. Clothes should be clean, free of stains and odors, and in good repair.  White shirts that are free of logos, advertising, pictures or other messages, may be worn under the uniform shirt.  Uniform shirts must be worn under sweatshirts.  While in school, uniforms are not to be covered with non-uniform items.
 
Makeup and Jewelry
Any makeup worn must be in good taste, lightly applied, middle school students only.   Small post earrings are allowed. No jewelry (except post type earrings) is allowed in physical education.

Hair
Hair should be clean and neat. No bleached, dyed, streaked hair is allowed. Distracting hair is not appropriate for elementary school.
 
Skirts, Jumpers, Skorts, Shorts and Capris
Skirts, jumpers, skorts and shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee.
No capris may be worn.
 
 
 
Shoes
Athletic shoes are preferred for school and are required for PE. Other types may be worn but, shoes must have heels of 1-inch height or less and must fully cover toes and heels.  Shoes with laces must be tied.  No boots of any kind, no sandals or flip-flops are allowed. Shoes with sequins, sparkles, metal decorations, neon or bright colors, etc. are not appropriate for uniform wear.
 
Socks
Socks or tights are to be worn at all times and must be one of the following solid colors:  navy blue, black, brown, red or white (small design/logo is acceptable).  Socks must cover the bottom of the tights.

P.E. Clothes
All students must have non-marking soled shoes intended exclusively for participation in physical education.  Students in grades 5 through 8 are required to change clothes for physical education.  Holy Family PE Uniforms are required and may be purchased here.
 
Free Dress days
On Free Dress days, uniforms do not have to be worn, but all students are expected to be clean, neat and take pride in their appearance. Logos and advertising on t-shirts or sweatshirts must be appropriate. Shoes must have heels of 1-inch height or less.  Shoes must fully cover toes and heels.
